Just a week ago, Taylor Swift, Grammy’s three times winner of Best Album, demonstrated her power over the music industry by releasing her 10th studio album “Midnights”. With many references from her career, dramas, and love songs, the singer-songwriter is praised for her comeback to pop music after her last 2 folk albums, Folklore (2020) and Evermore (2021).

Taylor wanted the whole world to be awake. She released her album at 12:00 a.m. ET, and it instantly cracked Spotify. The platform stopped working and came back only a few minutes later. Though everyone was gagged with the 13 new songs she announced one by one on TikTok’s favorite bingo nights (“Midnights Mayhem with Me”), it was not enough for her. Ms. Swift., exactly at 3:00 a.m. ET decided to leave the night with a “chaotic surprise” and released a deluxe version of the album with 7 more songs entitled the “3 am Edition”. But it might have been a “Glitch” in Taylor’s mind, she still was not satisfied and debuted the music video for its first single “Anti-Hero”,  “I really don’t think I’ve delved this far into my insecurities in this detail before,” she says. And all of this only started one of Taylor Swift’s most record-breaking eras.

She didn’t even wait for midnight. In 24 hours, Taylor Swift broke the record of “ Most Streamed Album in a Day” on Spotify, completing 184.6 million streams when the clock struck midnight. She also holds the track of the three most streamed albums in a day by a female artist  (“Red(Taylor’s Version)” and  “Folklore”). But “The Great War” was not over as the artist also sold over 1.2 million units of her album in the US, the best-selling album of the year. One of America’s biggest magazines gave a positive review of the singer’s album, and you can check it out below, in addition they ranked the album at a five star rating. It’s been a great week for Taylor, and even more is expected from her.

“Midnights may come as a surprise to the most newly turned fans of her music, those who only learned to like her songwriting when it came in the traditionally respectable Folklore/Evermore package. But like many of her purely “pop” releases in the past, Midnights leaves more and more to be uncovered beneath the purple-blue synth fog on the surface. What is coming next? Since Tuesday (25), when Taylor released the music video for the second single “Bejeweled”, nothing new was announced by the pop star. She was in “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Sunday, and said that she missed being on tour, but until now nothing about a world tour is confirmed, though the United Kingdom fans got a message indicating a presumed ticket sale for a concert. Taylor’s last tour was in 2018, on her Reputation Stadium Tour for her 6th album “Reputation”,  since the Lover Festival that would happen in 2020 was canceled due to the pandemic. Is Taylor Swift planning to go on tour in 2023? Will she finally come to South America again? We can only wait for her next steps.

Finally, Taylor Swift once again makes her mark as one of the greatest artists of the last two decades. Her darkest and deepest album is already a huge success. The songwriter of the decade proves to the world that she can do whatever she wants to with a true mastermind.
