This is not a simulation: Rihanna is back!

After 6 years without releasing any music as a lead artist, Rihanna announced her brand new song “Lift Me Up” on Instagram, which features in the soundtrack of Marvel’s sequel “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”.

Chadwick Boseman

In 2020, the actor who played Black Panther in The Marvel Cinematic Universe sadly passed away. Following that, the new film is a tribute to Chadwick Boseman’s life and accomplishments, and this is also the reason why Rihanna chose to do the song for the movie soundtrack. Tthe film’s director, Ryan Coogler, recently stated Rihanna’s motivations for wanting to participate in the project:

“The truth is, once she played us the record, she said straight up, ‘I did this for Chad.’ It was him, man. And sitting here thinking about it, it’s hitting me right now… Chad brought us all together, you know what I mean? He just keeps on and keeps on giving. I’m just really thankful that Rihanna was the latest gift to join the family, and I can’t wait for folks to see how it’s used in the film.”
She is ready to be back

The song was published on October 28th (last Friday), and it has already become one of the most popular in the globe, as well as one of the most popular tracks featured in a soundtrack on Spotify. She concluded by announcing that she would perform on February 12th, 2023, at the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

What’s next?

The pop artist also released a music video and an instrumental version of the new tune that you can check at the end of this article. But the question on everyone’s mind is whether she will release a new album. According to speculations, she is engaged in a new project. Nevertheless, all we can do is wait to see what she plans to do next; let’s just hope it won’t just involve launching a new cosmetics brand.
