I wanna dance with somebody receives new trailer

Recently a new trailer was released for the upcoming film of the iconic Whitney Houston, a legend in music history. The film releasing in late 2022 will show the singer’s tough journey to become one of the greatest voices in soul music.

According to the site of the biopic produced by Sony Pictures: “the film is a no-holds-barred portrait of the complex and multifaceted woman behind The Voice. From New Jersey choir girl to one of the best-selling and most awarded recording artists of all time, audiences are taken on an inspirational, poignant and so emotional journey through Houston’s trailblazing life and career, with show-stopping performances and a soundtrack of the icon’s most beloved hits as you’ve never heard them before. Don’t you wanna dance?”

Naomi Ackie, who will play the lead role, recreating unforgettable moments from Houston’s career, such as her performance of The National Anthem at Super Bowl XXV, the production of her music video How Will I Know, and her famous response to critics claiming that her music was not ‘black enough’.

“I can’t sing black and I can’t sing white either. I can sing”

Says the actress impersonating Houston’s voice in the trailer.

In addition, the main actress, who has already appeared in the Star Wars franchise, told People magazine that she was very nervous about taking on the role of the singer. “She was so relevant in my life for so long, it seemed like an impossible thing to achieve sometimes. But many people told me the same thing: if I wasn’t afraid and nervous, they would think something was wrong with me. My biggest challenge was to let my fear about the magnitude of this task take a back seat. Good things don’t happen when fear stays for too long.”

I Wanna Dance With Somebody releases in cinemas on December 23. For now, you can check out the trailer below:
